Frequently Asked Questions

How does automatic trip detection work?
DriveNote uses GPS and motion sensors to detect when you start and stop driving. When sustained movement above driving speed is detected, a trip begins recording automatically. When you stop for several minutes, the trip ends and is saved. You don't need to press start or stop.
Does the app work in the background?
Yes. DriveNote runs a foreground service to track trips even when your screen is locked. A persistent notification shows when tracking is active. You can see live trip stats on the notification during a drive.
How do I export my trips?
Go to Settings → Export data. Choose a date range (7 days, 30 days, this month, all time) and export as CSV (for spreadsheets) or PDF (for printable reports). The file is shared via your device's share sheet.
How do I delete my account and data?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account & data. This permanently removes all local trips, cloud data, and your account association. See our deletion page for full details.
Does DriveNote use my location for advertising?
No. Your location data is used only for trip tracking and route recording. We do not sell or share your precise location data with advertisers.
What's the difference between Google sign-in and anonymous mode?
With Google sign-in, your trips are backed up to the cloud and survive app reinstalls. Anonymous mode stores everything locally only — if you uninstall the app, your data is lost. You can upgrade from anonymous to Google sign-in anytime in Settings.
How do I manage my privacy settings?
In regions where consent is required, go to Settings → Privacy to toggle crash reports and usage analytics on or off. You can also withdraw all optional consent with one tap. Your core trip tracking always works regardless of these choices.
